Mentoring is a (long-term) process | relationship typically between two people. Usually, the “mentor” is an experienced individual who shares knowledge, experience, and helpful real guidance or practical tactics with a less experienced person in that particular field or also called “mentee”.
The goal is to support the professional and personal development of the mentee by building or fostering self-reliance, leadership skills and mindset based on a defined goal. Particularly, it could be very helpful in times of change, special challenges, long-term career aspirations or a simple trusted advisor over a long-term partnership.
A mentee is going to receive highly valuable inputs by the mentor, often as a discussion but following a simple process. Experiences and how to learn from previous mistakes, and avoid those. is going to be highly valuable for the mentee. In some scenarios this could lead to new opportunities within or outside of the current workplace.
A mentor must enjoy the support to others genuinely. Hence, a mentor has a natural benefit of being a mentor to others. Besides the improvement of communication and personal skills, a mentor may also going to learn, called “reverse-mentoring”.
We recommend to have a free trial discussion to explain the process, views and next steps. We believe that every professional should have at least one mentor.
There are various debates and discussions about this difference. We would highlight some key points to simplify from our point of view:
A coach focusses on “performance” based topics, improvements should be easily measured and it is mostly a short-term and defined framework usually driven with more authority by the coach.
A mentor focusses on “career development” based on a long-term directive process with an equal relationship. A measurement should be supported by regular surveys. Besides a possibility of finding a mentor within your workplace, often supported by a program of your employer, we suggest to match your mentor based on your personal goals to leverage the experience. We will be happy to support your future.
There is no “official” graduation of being a mentor. However, we would only offer individuals with proven skillsets and experience to be a trusted-advisor tailored for your needs. At our team, we do have our own process to accept mentors on our platform.
First of all “Welcome” to our community. You will enjoy all content on our platform which is going to be around leadership topics and updates, recommendations and potential podcasts in future. Furthermore, by signing up you enjoy a nice discount on our mentoring hours.
Our mentoring sessions follow a simple process and will be 45 minutes per one session. In some cases, we can recommend a double session. The frequency will be discussed between the mentee and mentor and can vary along the mentoring experience.
We will always focus on continuous improvements. A feedback is one most powerful part we can get in order to use this for any part of improvement but also for a proof of success. Our survey is simple, short and mainly driven by multiple choice option to safe your time.
Extending will be discussed with your mentor and the frequency or length can be adjusted as per mutual agreement. This is risk free due to a monthly un-subscription option. Please follow the messages you receive after signing up.
All personal details will be strictly confidential and only used for feedback to mentors as well as measure our process / your improvements constantly.
